Malaria Programme

Malaria is one of the major diseases undermining the health of vulnerable communities in the state. Malaria Programme of OVHA is a VHAI supported World Bank Project.

Aims

To provide effective services to plan and implement social mobilization and delivery of timely and appropriate preventive and curative services for malaria control in identified endemic areas.


Objectives

  • Strengthening the national control programme through capacity building of health volunteers, peripheral health workers, getting real time feedback on services and logistics from affected communities
  • Mobilizing community members on the use of LLINs and acceptance of IRS.
  • Advocating with different groups to gain political commitment and cooperation for malaria control amongst vulnerable communities.
  • Integrate malaria control with other health and development programmes.

Area of Intervention

The Project covers 11 districts in general and two districts i.e., Rayagada (Kashipur Block) and Malkangiri (Kudmulguma Block) in particular with intensive programmes.


Inauguration of Project

  • Training of trainers for project supervisors and cluster supervisors.
  • Village meetings among villagers including PRI members, school children, Nayaks, Disharis, mothers, etc regarding malaria on regular basis.
  • Community consultation is being done by interacting with different level of stake holders.
  • Monthly staff meeting is being carried out to discuss monthly progress and to chalk out action plan for the coming month.
  • Slide collection of fever cases, use of RDT and referral.
  • Awareness camps have been organized to discuss on CMMC, reason of malaria and prevention of spreading of the same.
  • Involvement in other National health Programmes.
